How can I get to The Lightbox?

There are excellent public transport links to The Lightbox, which is just a few minutes' walk from Woking station and bus station. By road it is 10-15 minutes from the M25, M3 and A3, with plenty of town centre parking available. Disabled parking and bicycle storage will be available on site. You can even arrive by boat along the Basingstoke Canal. Please see the Visit Us section of the website for more info.

How much does it cost to visit The Lightbox?

Nothing - it's free! There is only a small charge to the main gallery when we have really major exhibitions, in which case there will be a full range of concessions available. We also take part in the Passport to Leisure scheme.

How can I get involved?

You can join our mailing list or join our volunteer team with full training given in a variety of roles. Please click on the links below to find out more.

Can The Lightbox help me research local and family history?

Yes. We have an extensive collection of objects relating to Woking’s history and also have important archive material. Items are be available on public display or by appointment if they are in storage. There is also a dedicated research room with library resources, access to our oral history collection and the Internet. You can look for specific information or browse through stories of Woking’s fascinating past.

I’m an artist. What is there for me at The Lightbox?

The Lightbox is developing a support network for artists in the area as part of the ARC project. Please contact us if you would like more information about opportunities for artists at info@thelightbox.org.uk

Can I hire any of the spaces in the building?

Yes. There is be a meeting room and education studio, which will be available for hire by groups, societies and companies. It is also possible to hire the galleries for a special reception, party or event. Please contact the Marketing and Events team on 01483 737807 for more information.
