Volunteer profiles

Here's what some of our volunteers have to say about working at The Lightbox...

“When I moved to the area I started volunteering at The Lightbox to meet new people. I have always been interested in history and working on the oral history project has been fantastic. The times are very flexible and I can help out whenever I like, but mostly I just really enjoy being here.”
Pearly, Oral History Volunteer

“I am interested in working in the museums and heritage sector and so I became a volunteer to add to my experience. Having read about The Lightbox in the local papers, I was also very curious to see what was happening behind the scenes. I have been digitally photographing history gallery items in the store, which also means I can put my interest in photography to good use. “
Kate, History Collection Volunteer

"As a member of a local history society I was involved with the development of a museum in Woking for sometime and so when The Lightbox became a reality it was natural to become a volunteer. The society has also donated a number of items to the history collection so it has been interesting to see what happens to them next. My professional library skills have been put to good use in my work organising the collection and finding items needed for display and I would certainly recommend being a volunteer.”
